The key innovation of the HydroFlex is the use of a replaceable hydrogen cartridge that continuously generates a low volume of gas over a Palladium-Platinum gas diffusion electrode. This completely eliminates the need for external hydrogen gas cylinders, drastically simplifying setup, space requirements, and safety protocols.

The electrode is a mercury-free alternative and contains no internal electrolyte, which prevents sample contamination from ion discharge or diffusion—a common issue with traditional electrodes.
